Stage of Love The Series- Everything you need to know about the new Vietnamese BL

Stage of Love series1: Everything there is to know

The new Vietnamese BL Stage of love just ended with its 8th episode.

Below is the official trailer.

Synopsis:

Stage of love the series is a Vietnamese coming of age drama. Follow Nguyen and Bao as they discover themselves, their passion and find love.

Story:

Nguyen is described as someone with a cold personality, as the show goes ahead you see that he has a great passion for acting but because of a past incident involving Duc he left the theatre club and also suffers from nightmares about that incident.

Enter Bao and his friend Huan who are both freshmen looking to join a club for credits, bump into Trac a diva who is a senior member of the club who then manipulates them into joining theatre.

Lihn a fangirl (who has her own page on Instagram about it) and her friends accidentally stumble with Bao and mistakenly exchange their bags. '

This is where our two main leads have their first conversation which starts with misunderstandings that have a bit of humour element to it.

The auditions start for the roles and Bao is selected to play Romeo and Lihn gets selected to play Juliet.

During this we see Lihn's friend get a liking for Duc who has unrequited feelings for Khanh.

As Nguyen has a good deal of experience in theatre Khanh the club president asks him to mentor the newbies; reluctantly Nguyen agrees.

Review:

The best thing about this drama are its actor's who have done a great job in potraying their respective characters. I've watched a lot of Asian BLs, this one is one of those dramas with good acting.

Gia Huy is convincing for the role of Nguyen with his character that is cold and distant yet caring. He has patience and courage.

Harry Duy is a refreshing treat and over the course of the drama, goes through a decent character development from a nervous shy boy to someone who isn't afraid to say what he feels.

One of my favourite characters is that of Khanh. Her character is one of those complex side characters in a simple storyline that you feel are equally important as the main leads.

The last episode was exemplary with everything coming back in a full circle. The episode has a bit of thriller element and in the end we get a sweet ending and all the closure that was needed.

I have to say I felt bad for Huan and seeing him cry did tear me up a bit but Nguyen's and Bao's heart fluttering confessions made up for it.
My only compliant - The drama is too short!
