My Unfamiliar Family: Watch it or Skip it?

My Unfamiliar Family: watch it or skip it?

"We're family but we don't know anything about each other"- Eun-hee.

Synopsis-

As people get older, they have less time to spend with their families and separately live their own lives. They meet someone who they share their time, feelings, and even their secrets and under these circumstances, the family becomes a strangers.

Plot-

Two parents Lee jin-sook and Kim sang-sik have three children.

Two daughters out which the eldest daughter Kim eun joo is married to a doctor Yoon taeyhoon and the middle child and younger daughter Kim eun hee works in a publishing company; lastly the youngest child, their son Ji woo works in a media company run by a college friend of Kim eun hee his sister.

In the first episode we find out that this family is only perfect on the surface.

The parents are about to announce to their children that they're about to graduate from marriage. That they want to sell the house, divide the money and live separately.

We also discover that the two sisters are not on speaking terms with each other since years.
Eun joo seems like she is in a loveless marriage and later turns out that her husband is gay.

Eun hee got cheated on in her nine years long relationship and felt betrayed by her best friend who knew about it but never told her.

Ji woo seems to understand everything but being the youngest one he keeps quite and plays innocent.

From the beginning there are cracks in the family but they begin to widen when the parents announce that they want to split and go their separate ways.

The story is narrated by the 2nd daughter and it is one of the best kdramas I have ever watched because of how realistic the characters were and how flawless the acting was.

The kdrama approaches family relations in a very realistic way; about how there are misunderstandings, resentments and things that we don't know about each other.

The story is very simple and yet compelling and sensitive.

The pace of the drama is extremely slow so if you're into watching thrillers or fast paced kdramas or something that includes romance I would not recommend this kdrama.

We feel that our family knows us best or that we know our family the best but more than often these are just illusions.
